Fidus Writer was present at this year’s Force 2017 conference in Berlin with a presentation about how to make software for scholars sustainable and what needs to happen for academic people to adopt open source editors. Particularly, the move from Chilean startup funding in the period 2012 to funding for academic research through the German Research Community (DFG) and maintenance by the University of Bonn and GESIS was in focus, and how some of the needs for development capacities were lowered by collaborating more with other projects.
