Fidus Writer 3.3 is here, and it’s packed with new features as well of tons of bug fixes.
Some highlights:
- Images and citations are now stored in documents. When you collaborate with others on a document, you will have access to the images and citations stored in that document plus those stored in your own citation/image database. Anyone with write access to a document can directly edit citation information or upload new images into the document.
- Integration with citation managers works much smoother: Just copy the reference in bibtex/biblatex format from the citation manager, and then paste it directly into the document (or into the bibliography overview page). If you use Zotero you can set your default export format to biblatex, and then you can even directly drag and drop citations from Zotero into Fidus Writer.
- Semantic specification of the emails and institutions of authors as well as keywords.
- Unique IDs for figures and anchors with unique IDs on arbitrary content so that one can link to them from the link dialog.
- Resizable toolbar for smaller screens (mobile devices).
- New plugin: Spell and grammar check through LanguageTool.

Thanks to the OSCOSS project, which has been central in creating the code for this release. In particular, I would like to thank Niloofar Azizi, who has been working on cell merging, IDs for figures and developed the model of a diminished toolbar, and Firas Kassawat, who has been working on anchors for arbitrary content.
The new features are a w e s o m e.
Just tried the zotero integration, works like a charm.
Hi, I recently discovered Fidus Writer, I am interested in usin it but I cannot figure out how to make work the Zotero integration: the “copy the BibTeX” citation into the text does not work for me, nor the drag-and-drop , but maybe I am not doing correctly…
any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Hey,
sorry for the late reply. What are you doing exactly?
