Citation styles can now be added, edited and removed

Citation styles can be selected directly in the editor. These are the eight styles already installed when setting up a new Fidus Writer installation.

The 1.1 beta version is now letting users choose from eight instead of five different citation styles. Site administrators can add even more styles through the administration interface. When we first started Fidus Writer, adding citations within the text was one of our major advantages in comparison to other text editors. While we initially had programmed this feature entirely ourselves, we were made aware of the existence of the Citation Style Language project which brings citation styles to the web.
When creating books or article collections, a citation style can be picked for the entire book, which will then override the citation style used in the chapters/articles contained within it.

Removing our own code and adding that of CSL about a year ago made the offered styles more professional looking and let us focus our efforts on other areas. But until now users were constrained to only use the five citation styles Fidus Writer. This has now changed. Different journals need different citation styles, so those running Fidus Writer installations will need to run different styles on their installations.
In the administration interface the site administrator can easily add or edit citation styles by assigning a title, pasting the code of the citation style and saving.

In order to add a citation style, the site administrator just has to paste the style definition into a form and give the style a name which is used for that style within the Fidus Writer menus. Styles can among other places be downloaded from here. Open the CLS-files in a text editor, then copy the contents and paste in within the Fidus Writer administration interface.
